The documents, and what each one is for

Government photo identification

Passport, national ID card or driving licence. Checking that you exist, that you are over eighteen, and that you are not on a sanctions or exclusion list. Usually the fastest to clear because it is largely automated.

Liveness check or selfie

A photo or short video, sometimes holding the document. Confirming the person submitting the ID is the person in it. Also automated in most cases, and usually resolves within minutes to hours.

Proof of address

A utility bill, bank statement or government letter, typically dated within the last three months. Confirming your jurisdiction, which matters because every operator here restricts territories and the licence requires enforcement.

The common failure is a document that is too old or shows a different address than the one on the account. Both mean starting again.

Proof of payment method

Where a card was used, a photo of it with most digits obscured, or a statement showing the transaction. Confirming you own the funding instrument. Not applicable if you funded from your own wallet, which is one more reason the crypto path is simpler.

Source of funds or source of wealth

The difficult one. Pay slips, tax returns, bank statements, contracts of sale, or documentation showing where your crypto came from.

Crypto makes this materially harder to satisfy than fiat, because the chain of custody for a coin bought in 2019, moved between three wallets and part converted through a decentralised exchange is genuinely difficult to evidence to a compliance officer's satisfaction. Covered in full separately.

Turnarounds are general patterns across the sector rather than commitments by any operator. None of the casinos we track publishes a service level for verification.

Practical points

• Use the same name everywhere. Account name, document, payment method. Mismatches restart the process.
• Photograph documents flat, in daylight, with all four corners visible.
• Check the date on your proof of address before you send it rather than after.
• Keep a copy of what you submitted and when. If the request repeats, you will want it.
