Slots are where most of a casino's library sits and where most of its third party revenue comes from. They are also the only category with a hidden pricing variable.

The cost

A typical crypto casino slot runs a house edge of three to five percent, meaning RTP between 95% and 97%. Compare that to 1% on the best Originals and the difference over real turnover is substantial. On $100,000 of turnover it is roughly $1,000 against $4,000.

The variant problem

Bonus buys

Paying a fixed multiple of your stake to enter the feature round directly. The convenience is real and the pricing is usually worse than the base game, because the buy price is set to carry a higher edge.

Bonus buys also compress turnover dramatically. A hundred spins at $2 is $200 of turnover. Ten bonus buys at $200 is $2,000. Same session length, ten times the expected loss.

What slots give you that Originals cannot

• Maximum multipliers in the tens of thousands, which no original except Limbo approaches
• Feature structures and progression that Originals do not attempt
• Extreme variance, if a small chance of an enormous outcome is specifically what you want

None of that is worthless. It is just expensive, and worth being deliberate about.

Rakeback does not close the gap

Several operators pay higher rakeback on slots than on Originals precisely because there is a bigger edge to rebate. Duel publishes 50% on slots against 5% on Originals, which is the most generous slot rate in our set.

Fifty percent of a 4% edge leaves 2%. Five percent of a 1% edge leaves 0.95%. The slot still costs roughly twice as much, with the best rakeback available. Worked through in full
