For a Curacao licence

1. Find the licence number on the operator's site, usually in the footer or the terms.
2. Go to the public register, the Curacao Gaming Authority public register.
3. Search the number or the operating company name.
4. Confirm three things: the licence is current, the company name matches the operator's stated entity, and the licence covers the type of gambling you are doing.

The example worth knowing

For an Anjouan licence

There is no public register to check. The Comoros Central Bank states that the bodies issuing these licences have no legal existence in the country, so there is nothing to verify against.

If an operator's only licence is an Anjouan one, verification is not available to you. What that means

For European licences

Malta publishes a licensee register at the MGA site. The UK Gambling Commission publishes one. Estonia publishes one through EMTA. All are searchable and all state the licensed entity and the scope of the licence.

What to check beyond the number

• Entity match. The company on the licence should be the company named in the operator's terms. A mismatch is worth understanding before you deposit.
• Scope. Some licences cover specific products or brands. A group licence does not automatically cover every site the group runs.
• Status. Current, suspended or expired. Expired licences still appear in some registers.
