Why the addresses matter

Commercial blockchain analytics firms maintain large labelled datasets identifying addresses belonging to exchanges, merchants, services and gambling operators. Many casino deposit addresses appear in them.

An exchange running that analysis on your withdrawals can see not only that you sent funds out, but where they went. That record exists whether or not anyone ever looks at it.

What some exchanges do

• Restrict transfers to gambling associated addresses in certain jurisdictions
• Ask about the source of incoming funds, which occasionally catches casino withdrawals
• Apply enhanced monitoring to accounts showing gambling patterns
• Report under applicable regulations where thresholds are met

Policies vary widely and change. None of this is universal and none of it is hypothetical either.

Using your own wallet as a middle layer means the exchange sees a withdrawal to your address and nothing further. The onward hop to a casino is on the public chain rather than in the exchange's own records.

The same record forms in reverse, and incoming funds from a labelled gambling address are the ones most likely to attract a question. If you want to avoid that, withdraw to your own wallet and convert later from an address without that history.

This is about reducing routine friction rather than about hiding anything. Gambling is legal in most places and having gambled is not something you need to conceal. It is reasonable not to want it flagged on every account you hold.
