Self custody
Nobody can freeze it, nobody can lose it for you, and nobody can help you when you lose it yourself.
What it means
You hold the private key. No company can freeze the funds, no platform failure touches them, and no account recovery process exists because there is no account.
That last point is the whole trade. Self custody removes counterparty risk and replaces it with operational risk that sits entirely with you.
Why it matters for casino play
- Funding route affects privacy. Depositing directly from an exchange account links your verified identity to the casino's deposit address in that exchange's records. Funding from a wallet you control puts a step in between. The full comparison
- Withdrawals go somewhere you control. A payout to your own wallet is final. A payout to an exchange is subject to that exchange's policies, which occasionally include questions about gambling proceeds.
- Balance discipline. Having a wallet to withdraw to makes withdrawing a habit rather than a project.
The seed phrase
The seed phrase is the wallet. Anyone with it has the funds, permanently and irreversibly. Nobody legitimate will ever ask you for it. Not support, not a casino, not a wallet provider, not anyone in a Telegram group offering help.
Write it on paper. Store it somewhere physically secure. Do not photograph it, do not put it in a password manager, do not put it in a note or an email or a cloud drive.
Practical setup for casino play
- A software wallet for working funds, holding what you intend to play with soon.
- A hardware wallet for anything substantial you are not actively using.
- Withdraw from the casino to the software wallet regularly.
- Move anything you are not going to play to the hardware wallet.
The separation matters. A device compromise that reaches your working wallet should not reach everything you own.
What self custody does not do
It does not make you anonymous. Your addresses are permanent public records, and the moment one of them touches a verified exchange account the link is established indefinitely. The distinction
